The last time I filmed a wedding was two years ago. I did it by myself with minimal equipment and a basic know-how of how to put a story together. Flash forward to now. We just moved into our new studio in West Hartford alongside Stella Blue Photography. Erica, who owns Stella Blue Photography, presented us with a new opportunity, an opportunity to film weddings alongside her. With only one wedding under my belt I was terrified, but I knew I had to practice.
This week, I was fortunate enough to participate in a “mock wedding” or a styled shoot, where a bunch of INCREDIBLY talented photographers and videographers got together to shoot this mock wedding. Let me just say it was nerve-wracking, yet incredible. I was totally outside of my comfort zone of documentary and narrative productions. As the day went on however, I became much more comfortable, and focused. I’ve been running around with a camera my entire life, and this is no different than any other scenario that I’ve had to film. I started to feel the flow of how to capture a styled wedding. Watching all of these amazing photographers was a great experience and I learned so much from them.
Below are some frames that I captured while filming!
