Jesse and I began blogging for our website about a year ago. In the beginning it was hard and the posts were few and far between. Why was it so hard? Well, every time we sat down to write a post, it kind of felt like a homework assignment. And let’s be honest, who wants to do homework?
Just like anything else, sometimes all that is needed is time. So, we gave ourselves a lot of time to even get used to the idea of blogging. We kept putting it on the back burner and kept asking ourselves this: does blogging really matter for our website?
Then we noticed a pattern. Every time we were given any advice from our peers the most common piece of advice was this: Don’t forget to blog!
Repeatedly we kept being told to blog. Blog about our lives, our work… anything. Just blog!
So finally, we did just that. We started to blog and developed a scheduling pattern to fit our marketing needs and managed to find both our voices in the virtual world.
And you know what?
It did make a difference.
Before we began blogging on a routine schedule, our google rating was this in the 90s (That’s Bad)
In just two months, our google rating jumped to the 30s (about a 66% increase!)
And it didn’t stop there…
So, what’s the lesson in all this? Well, even though you may not see yourself branching out into a different direction… if the opportunity presents itself give it a try. I never thought I would begin blogging, and to be honest, at first I didn’t want to. However, when you have a website it’s crucial, and the upside of this is: you get to have a platform that allows you to have a voice. So, if you need to blog, blog! Or, if you want to try it out, give it a shot. What do you have to lose?
